Two dozen environmentally-minded young adults, 18-25, will participate in a Water Tour for Justice August 2-10 as part of UULM-CA’s water justice/climate change education program.
“The water justice tour was borne out of a desire of UU college-aged young adults,” said Tera Little, Pacific Southwest District’s lifespan education director. “At the PSWD District Assembly 2007, I asked some young people what it would it take to keep them all connected to the UU faith as they venture out into the world. They all agreed on one thing –they wanted opportunities for UU social justice mission trips which would allow them to put their faith in action with other UU young adults,” she added. “Now finally, UULM and PSWD are creating exactly such an opportunity!”
The tour will have two departure points, one in Los Angeles and one in Sacramento, converging at key points to visit dams, rivers, the “green” UU Church of Fresno, and white water rafting on the American River.
